Ideas For a Mean Green Quilt

I was thinking about the quilts that I had crafted over the years. I tried to remember as many as I could. I went over all my quilts whether it was patchwork, themed or patterned, I tried to remember how many green ones I had made… And to my surprise, I wasn’t able to remember making even just one green quilt.

After coming to this realisation, I could find no real reason for not having one. I then became fixed on start one. I sat down with my pad and pencil and jotted down a number of ideas for my green quilt.

Here’s just a few of the ideas I came up with:

Link Theme

I have a nephew who is really into his Nintendo. One of the numerous games I have seen him play is a game known as Zelda : Twilight Princess. The primary character of this game is a little fellow called Link.

He dresses typically in green, with a bit of brown. The graphics on this game were mostly simple, with smooth edges and not a huge amount of detail. Making a quilt with Link in one of the forest theme levels would be quite simple and would mainly feature a green design.

On top of this, my nephew would be thrilled to bits with a blanket like this.

A Vine Blanket

Taking a rather more nature themed approach, I came up with the concept of using vines to make up the pattern of a quilt. You could have them criss-cross or merely grow in random directions across the quilt, to fill out the pattern.

When you have decided the way the vines will go, add some leaves to every one of the vines to add some texture to your green quilt. It truly works out to a great free form design.

Now I’m not going to tell you which concept I ended up going with, but I know that I'm going to eventually use every one of them, as I adore them all!
